Hey! I'm Amelie Shypilova (she/they)
I’m a cartoonist from Vancouver, BC, situated on the the unceded traditional territories of the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm, Sḵwx̱wú7mesh, and səlilwətaɬ Nations.
I write and draw comics and children’s books, where I’ve been self-publishing my comics for the past few years. My work is all about quirky characters with swooshy hair and piercings, but I strive to tell nuanced stories based on themes close to my heart- such as queer identity, mental health, and growing up.
I love weaving these themes within stories that are whimsical, otherworldly, and sometimes a bit horrifying. As a self proclaimed creature of sorts, I'm inspired by brewing up strange creature and character designs.
I currently attend Emily Carr University, studying Illustration for a bachelors in Visual Arts.
