Hey! I'm Amelie Shypilova (she/they)
I’m a cartoonist from Vancouver, BC, situated on the the unceded traditional territories of the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm, Sḵwx̱wú7mesh, and səlilwətaɬ Nations.
I write and draw comics and picture books. I’ve been self-publishing my comics for the past few years. My work is all about quirky characters with swooshy hair, but I strive to tell nuanced stories based on themes close to my heart- such as queer identity, escapism, and growing up.
I love weaving these themes within stories that are whimsical, otherworldly, yet still rooted in real-life experiences. I recently had my queer-horror comic "Starface Aquarium" published in Volume 2 of the Discovery Anthology by Cauldron Books and Comics.
I currently attend Emily Carr University, studying Illustration for a bachelors in Visual Arts. I graduate in Spring of 2026.
